Emmerdale fans appear to have been left shouting at their TV screens as Laurel Sharma's attempts to escape after being held hostage by Colin failed. Laurel had been planning to travel to India to be with her new husband Jai following the death of his father, Rishi, on their wedding day.
Laurel was feeling guilty about being away from Jai, especially after she got a message from her stressed husband explaining that his siblings were pulling focus from their dad's funeral to make it all about themselves. As Laurel shared her dilemma, pal Nicola King encouraged Laurel to take the next flight in order to join Jai for the funeral the following day and that she'd look after the kids.
Grateful, Laurel agreed and started quickly sorting out her trip. But along the way, Laure was disrupted when she got a text message from her son Arthur's former love interest Marshall asking for her to retrieve his passport from his homophobic father Colin so he could go on holiday abroad with his auntie.

But when she headed to Colin's house, the pair started talking and after a while things started to escalate when Colin said Laurel was "instrumental" in Marshall being taken away from him and declared she was "not going anywhere" until he was returned to him before locking her in his old bedroom.
So during Wednesday night's episode of the ITV soap (August 9), viewers were hoping for Laurel to have some sort of escape plan - which she did. As Colin finally opened the door and let himself into the room, Laurel claimed to have come round to his views and asked if they could pray together.
As they did, Laurel sprung into action, hitting Colin over the head
