For many, she became a familiar face on our screens as she took the role of Sergeant June Ackland in the police drama for over three decades. She was the show's longest-running character before she stepped back from the programme in 2007.The Bill was axed in 2010 and the decision came as a "shock" to Trudie, as it had been on our screens since 1983.
In 2011 she joined the cast of Emmerdale where she played Georgia Sharma for four years until 2015. The character was recently brought back into the village after Rishi Sharma's tragic death - but she is now being played by EastEnders star Lin Blakley instead. Speaking to the Mirror in 2005 ahead of her exit from The Bill, the actress explained that despite her decision to leave the show, she’d had a “brilliant” time.
“I don't regret my decision to stay for so long for a second. But it's time to move on,” she said, before adding her hopes for the future. “I can afford to do theatre now.
I'd love to be in a West End play, something completely different,” she added. “I'd also like to spend a few months travelling around India with my husband Kit.” After departing The Bill, Trudie has continued to act and has made appearances in shows including The Weakest Link, Countdown and All Star Mr and Mrs. She was recently seen enjoying a walk near her home in South London looking relaxed and summery.Trudie was seen in a comfortable plaid shirt, linen trousers and dark sunglasses.
