Emmerdale fans are raging against the soap’s bosses as they call for a “fake” villager to face the axe. In last night's episode, long-standing character Bob Hope was rushed to horrible when a nasty altercation with Liam Cavanagh went awry.
Bob couldn’t contain his fury when he came face to face with his girlfriend Wendy Posner’s affair partner Liam - who is played by Johnny McPhearson. The Bed and Breakfast owner was already having a bad day - having accidentally been hit by a flying football booted over by Archie Sharma - when he spotted Wendy and Liam leaving his GP surgery together. The already irate Bob rushed to assume the worst and guessed that they had rekindled their affair - even though, in reality, Wendy had been handing her notice in. She had actually been planning on leaving her job with Liam in a bid to sort out her relationship with Bob.
But, despite efforts to defuse the situation, Bob ended up hurling a punch at Liam, hitting him square in the face. He also grabbed the rogue football and chucked it Liam’s way too, before unexpectedly falling to his knees and clutching his chest.
Doctor Liam then revealed that the stress of the encounter had sent Bob into cardiac arrest and an ambulance was called right away. Luckily, Liam was able to resuscitate his love rival, who was carted off to hospital with Wendy, a qualified nurse, in tow.
However, Wendy didn’t exactly face a warm welcome on the ward, as Brenda Walker rushed to blame her for the incident, saying that her actions “literally broke his heart.” And fans were also less than impressed with Wendy, who is played by actress Susan Cookson - with some even calling for her to leave the soap entirely. “Wendy on Emmerdale is a pathetic nurse! She just lurks around
