After the events of recent weeks in Emmerdale, it’s safe to say that Caleb Miligan is far from the most popular resident in the village. From forcing his brother and sister-in-law’s farm into financial ruin, trying to steal Kim Tate’s fortune, sleeping with his cousin Charity Dingle and pressuring his gay son into a fake marriage - it’s perhaps no real shock that the star isn’t in everyone’s good graces.
Yet it appeared someone in the village was holding more than just a grudge on Thursday, 15 June's instalment of the ITV soap, as one mystery villager made a clear attempt on Caleb’s life by shoving him off a woodland ridge - potentially to his death. Throughout the episode and the week leading up to it, one by one the villagers had all shown their contempt for Caleb’s actions as he continued to cross them time and time again, revealing an entire smorgasbord of possibilities for who was willing to take justice into their own hands and make Caleb pay for his dodgy dealings.
With Cain Dingle, Leyla Harding, Will Taylor, Mackenzie Boyd and even son Nicky all in the frame for having strong motives to make an attempt on his life, fans at home have been quick to share their theories on who pushed Caleb - with one name in particular coming up more often than most. On Monday's episode and following Caleb’s plan being rumbled last week, Dingle court regrouped to debate what to do about their dodgy family member.
While the Dingles discussed Caleb, the man in question soon arrived and boldly declared he’s staying in the village and there’s nothing they can do about it. The following day, Moira attempted to deter Cain from revenge while a heartbroken Gabby hid at Home Farm having been humiliated by Nicky’s gay confession last week.
