Emmerdale airs another shock exit as Charles Anderson leaves the soap

Emmerdale viewers watched as vicar Charles Anderson exited the soap following the death of his father and guilt over his actions.
Charles has been struggling following his father's death, as Victor only recently arrived in the village after his stint in prison was over. Not long before he died, Charles had planted his partner Manpreet Sharma's necklace in his pocket, looking to frame him and get rid of him permanently.
Charles has been trying to write his dad's eulogy and the feelings of guilt after mum Claudette asked him to conduct the funeral service for his late dad. However, Charles announced that he had taken a last minute spot at a wellness retreat as he exited the soap.
During a chat with his mum, he said: "Sorry I know it’s short notice but there’s been a cancellation at a retreat and I want to get my train connection, taking some time for my thoughts. Manpreet will be back tomorrow, so you won’t be on your own for too long.
"I’m quite happy on my own, you know," she replied, adding: "Sounds like your mind’s made up." He then responded to her by saying: "I know. It won’t be for long, only for a few days, I promise. I could take some time to think about dad, write the eulogy, get some sea air, no mobiles allowed. I really thought that’s what you meant."
Claudette reassured him that it would be fine, adding: "If that’s what you feel you need to do then I suppose you should go. How can I be annoyed at you when you’re doing the right thing? I have everything I need right here, I’m more than capable."
Charles' temporary exit comes amid some huge changes for the soap, including the departure of executive producer Jane Hudson. Viewers took to social media to share their thoughts after the shocking scenes aired as one
