A travel blog has shared its list of the '10 coolest places to live in the UK' and Edinburgh is among the cities included.
Nomads Nation is a travel website and YouTube channel that specialises in equipment for travellers. Ahead of New Year's, they have released their picks for the best places to live in 2023.
The majority of cities on the list are located in England, with Edinburgh, Belfast, and Cardiff being the only exceptions. Coming in at number one on the list is London, which the blog called a "huge, sprawling city on a global scale", while giving particular praise to the Dalston, Bethnal Green, and Walthamstow areas.
The Scottish capital placed at number four on Nomads Nation's list. The blog stated that Edinburgh is a "hearty city perfect for nomads who like a hefty helping of local culture".
It singled out Leith as a top place to live, praising it for being "near the centre but still a good place for a party, with an interesting mix of history and modern living on offer".
Nomads Nation continued: "With the iconic sight of Edinburgh Castle sat atop an extinct volcano looking down on the city, the capital of Scotland has plenty of history on offer. Most notably this is to be found in the city's Old Town (or Auld Toun), where the medieval street plans mix with Reformation-era edifices for a higgledy-piggledy place to wander."
The website also named its top three 'pros' and 'cons' of living in Edinburgh, praising its beauty, history, and "great culture" including the Fringe.
On the other hand, Nomads Nation said the city can "get busy with tourists", can get "cold pretty much all year round", and said some people "might want a big city feel".
