Ed Sheeran is said to be penning a song to pay tribute to his late friend, Jamal Edwards. Jamal tragically died in February at the age of 31 after a period of “sudden illness”. He helped launch the Shape Of You hitmaker Ed's career after he filmed the then-up-and-coming star for his channel SB.TV and the pair soon formed a friendship too.
Now, almost two months on from his passing, Ed, also 31, is reportedly creating a song and video with the help of some of the late music producer's nearest and dearest. Photos have emerged of the singer at a recording studio in Soho, London, where the likes of Rafferty Law and Tom Felton were also in attendance. Jamal’s mum, Loose Women star Brenda, was also pictured alongside Jamal’s sister Tanisha, sparking rumours that the late music producer’s family will also be part of the music project.
A source told The Sun: “Ed looked in good spirits when he arrived but it was a sombre occasion and things got very emotional on set. "Ed wanted to do something to celebrate Jamal’s incredible legacy because he was a huge part of his life. “Brenda wore all black and had sunglasses on as she arrived.
It was really brave of her to get involved after such a loss, but she knows how close Ed and Jamal were and so it felt poignant to be part of it.” Get exclusive celebrity stories and fabulous photoshoots straight to your inbox with OK!'s daily newsletter. Ed Sheeran has won his High Court copyright battle over his hit song Shape of You.The singer, who recently spoke about being supported by his wife Cherry Seaborn throughout the case, was accused of being a "magpie" who "borrows" ideas from other artists, and he denied copying other songwriters Sami Chokri and Ross O'Donoghue and their song Oh Why, which was released in 2015. Chokri and O'Donoghue had claimed the Shape of You chorus, which 31 year old Sheeran sings out “oh I oh I oh I”, was actually stolen from their own chorus “oh why oh why oh why”. Mr Justice Zacaroli concluded Mr Sheeran "neither deliberately nor subconsciously" copied the phrase in a ruling today (April 6).
