series has a reputation for having some of the best needle drops in the MCU, and is no exception. From the very first moments of the first film in 2014, which featured Chris Pratt's Star-Lord bopping along to Redbone's «Come and Get Your Love» on his Walkman, director James Gunn has punctuated his fun-loving space adventure with a memorable collection of songs, immortalized on the film's aptly titled  soundtracks.So, what are some of the favorite needle drops of the Guardians themselves? ET's Ash Crossan sat down with some of the cast, ahead of the release of the third and final, to find out.«Lake Shore Drive» by Aliotta Haynes Jeremiah«I think my favorite song of the entire trilogy is probably the opening song for the opening movie — it's probably 'Come and Get Your Love.'… I love that song, but I also got to say there's a really special place in my heart for 'Lake Shore Drive' in the second movie, which is from my past. James and I grew up in the Midwest, and that was kind of a local hit in the Midwest.

Leo Barraclough International Features Editor Munich-based sales agency Global Screen has acquired romantic drama “Falling Into Place” for worldwide theatrical distribution. The English-language film is written and directed by Aylin Tezel, one of Germany’s leading young actors, and stars Tezel (“7500”) and Chris Fulton (“Bridgerton”). The directorial debut is set in Scotland on the Isle of Skye and in London. It is an honest and poetic portrait of today’s 30-somethings caught between the fear of commitment and the desire for self-improvement. Like all great love stories, it is not just about the love between two individuals, but also about the dreams and anxieties of a whole generation.

Nick Vivarelli International Correspondent Netflix on Thursday dropped its Saudi Arabian psychological thriller “The Matchmaker,” which centers on a married IT worker who becomes infatuated with a beautiful intern at his office and ventures into ground that breaks several types of local boundaries. In the film, which is directed by Abdulmohsen Aldhabaan — whose 2019 directorial debut “Last Visit” depicted Saudi’s patriarchal culture — the protagonist (Hussam Alharthy) winds up following the intern (Nour Alkhadra) to an eerie desert resort where a matchmaker (Reem Alhabib) promises men she will pair them with their perfect bride. The basic premise behind “The Matchmaker,” which is produced by disruptive Saudi shingle Telfaz 11, was to make a genre movie that played on the practice of “misyar,” a no-strings attached marriage often done secretly in Saudi society. Under the rules of “misyar” the wife waives conventional marriage rights such as cohabitation and financial support. The practice has been legal in the conservative Muslim kingdom for decades.

Dakota Fanning (The Equalizer 3) has added to an already stacked dance card, closing a deal to lead the buzzy supernatural thriller The Watchers, which will mark the feature debut of writer-director Ishana Night Shyamalan.

Manori Ravindran Executive Editor of International Joel Kinnaman is set to lead the alien abduction thriller “They Found Us,” from director Neill Blomkamp, for AGC Studios. AGC fully financed the project, and will launch sales via AGC International in Cannes next month. UTA Independent Film Group is co-repping U.S. rights. “They Found Us” is based on an original screenplay by Jeremy Slater (“Moon Knight”) and will be produced by Wyck Godfrey and Marty Bowen for Temple Hill Entertainment (“Smile”). Ford is on board as an executive producer along with Temple Hill’s John Fischer. The film will shoot in Australia this year.

Sara Dolatabadi’s film previously won the Works in Progress Post-Production Development Award at Karlovy Vary Film Festival in 2021, and was presented at the IDFA Forum that same year. The film is produced by Dolatabadi and Farhad Mohammadi for Dolatabadi’s production outfit Petit Duc Doc, in association with Fondation Jan Michalski. The film is executive produced by Iranian filmmaker Amir Naderi (“Vegas,” “Manhattan by Numbers,” “The Runner”), who received the Jaeger-LeCoultre Glory to the Filmmaker award at the Venice Film Festival in 2016, an award dedicated to a personality who has made an original contribution to innovation in contemporary cinema.

Frank Doelger’s The Swarm has sold to the UK and Spain, while a U.S. partner is in the final stages of talks.

The film, which was ordered by the BBC in February, explores the rollercoaster life and career of Kanye West, A.K.A. Ye. Its producer Jeremy Lee spoke to Variety, ahead of MipTV, the TV market and conference, which kicks off Monday in Cannes. A number of high-profile broadcasters and platforms have already acquired the film, which is fronted by the investigative journalist Mobeen Azhar, including Foxtel in Australia, NPO in the Netherlands, TV4 in Sweden and Finland, NRK in Norway, TV2 in Denmark, and VRT in Flemish Belgium.

Leo Barraclough International Features Editor Season 6 of Canadian cop show “Hudson & Rex,” one of the world’s most successful television brands, has been given the greenlight. The new season has been added to the sales slate of Beta Film at next week’s MipTV television conference and market in Cannes. The canine star of the police procedural, German Shepherd Diesel, who plays Rex, will walk the pink carpet on Sunday at TV series festival Canneseries, which runs in parallel with MipTV. He will be joined by John Reardon, who plays detective Charlie Hudson. The crime fighting duo are presenting the French premiere of the first episode of Season 4, followed by a Q&A with the talent.

Apple TV+ thriller “The Last Thing He Told Me.” Premiering April 14, the miniseries (executive-produced by Garner and Reese Witherspoon) is based on a bestselling novel by Laura Dave (and is co-written by Dave and her husband, Oscar-winning “Spotlight” screenwriter Josh Singer).The storyline follows Hannah (Garner), an artist and a newlywed who, for just over a year, has had what appears to be a great relationship with a widower, Owen (Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, “Game of Thrones”) — even though his churlish teenage daughter, Bailey (Angourie Rice), hasn’t warmed up to her new stepmother. When Owen mysteriously vanishes after a fraud investigation at his tech startup — “It’s like what they did at Enron,” Hannah’s friend Jules (Aisha Tyler) helpfully contextualizes — Hannah’s life gets turned upside down. She’s blindsided, since Owen never seemed like the white-collar criminal type.

Netflix has released the first official trailer for The Mother, Jennifer Lopez‘s upcoming action-thriller – you can watch it above.Directed by Niki Caro (Mulan), the film stars Lopez as an assassin who will do anything to protect her daughter, having been forced to give her up at birth.“I’m a killer. And I’m also a mother,” says Lopez’s character in the action-packed trailer, which sees her headbutt, stab and shoot a variety of bad guys who threaten both her and her daughter.A synopsis of the film reads: “A deadly female assassin comes out of hiding to protect the daughter that she gave up years before, while on the run from dangerous men.”The trailer opens with Lopez in a flashback giving birth to her daughter.

Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy (“Ms. Marvel”) is directing the still-untitled Rey movie from a script by Steven Knight (“Peaky Blinders”). Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy said at the fan convention that Ridley’s new “Star Wars” movie will follow Rey as she builds a new Jedi Order, but the executive teased a bit more about the plot in an interview with IGN: “Star Wars” fans will pick up with Rey well over a decade after “The Rise of Skywalker.”
