Jessie Wallace has been “urged to slow down” by her friends in the wake of the EastEnders star being arrested over the weekend for allegedly drunkenly assaulting a police officer. A statement issued to OK! Online by Suffolk Police at the time read: "A 50 year-old woman was arrested early on Sunday morning in St Andrew’s Street, Bury St Edmunds, on suspicion of assaulting a police officer/drunk and disorderly conduct and was released without charge after receiving a conditional caution." Images later surfaced showing the moment Jessie, 50, was restrained as arrested. The soap star had been at a Madness concert on Saturday night in Suffolk, before heading out to the Flex night club in Bury St Edmunds.
At around 2am, Jessie and a man who is believed to be her boyfriend were seen talking with police officers. She launched into a wave of verbal insults towards the officer, who she told to “f*** off you fat c***” before allegedly assaulting him physically. Friends of the EastEnders veteran have since voiced their concern to Jessie, and advised her to “sort her head out”.
“She needs to step back, slow down and try to sort her head out. It goes without saying this behaviour is deeply unprofessional,” one pal told Mirror Online. “What message does this behaviour send to some of the younger members of the cast?” they added.
Their comments come after the BBC issued a warning to the actress, who said that Jessie has expressed “deep regret”. A spokesperson said in a statement: “Senior bosses have spoken to Jessie Wallace about the incident and issued a clear warning that this kind of behaviour is unacceptable. Jessie has expressed her deep regret.” It’s said that Jessie’s future on the hit BBC soap is now up in the air.
