EastEnders appeared to accidentally air a swear word during its recent New Year's Day episode. The pre-watershed BBC soap found itself in an awkward blunder as the F-word was broadcast while a group of Walford residents were seen clubbing to bring in 2024.
While many viewers may have missed it, some noticed the expletive in the background of the scene. As Ben Mitchell, Callum Highway, Anna and Gina Knight, Bernie Taylor, and Felix Baker all got together to down shots at the bar, the dance anthem Animals by DJ Martin Garrix can be heard playing in the background.
But it seems producers may not have realised that they played out the explicit version, as the F-bomb could be heard while the revellers enjoyed their night out. As Gina shouted to the group to take a selfie, the mistake can be heard in the background.
The lyrics to the popular dance track include the words: “We're the fu***** animals.” While soap bosses probably meant to play out the clean version of the song which doesn’t include swearing, the naughty word can still be heard on the catch-up episode of the soap on BBC iPlayer.
It comes as Eastenders fans were shocked to spot that a character had been recast on the show months after disappearing. Lauren Branning (Jacqueline Jossa) made a dramatic return to Albert Square, alongside her son Louie Beale, with viewers quick to spot that the youngster is now being played by a different actor.
Louie previously appeared as part of Cindy Beale's (Michelle Collins) return, as it was revealed that she was living in France with husband Ian (Adam Woodyatt) and son Peter (Thomas Law), who is Louie's father. Noticing the recast, viewers took to X, formerly Twitter, with one writing: "Have they recast Louie again lol
