EastEnders fans were left shocked on Monday night after a Walford legend returned to the BBC soap after six years. The beloved character of Yolande Trueman, played by actress Angela Wynter, returned to Albert Square to visit her ex-husband Patrick (Rudolph Walker). During her sudden return, Yolande revealed that her partner Antone had thrown her out after he found out about her fling with Patrick when he was in Birmingham.
Viewers watched as Yolande sat down with Patrick and asked if she could stay with him for a while. Caught off guard, Patrick was hesitant and said he didn't think it was a good idea - Yolande proceeded to plead with her ex-husband as she had nowhere else to go and that he was partly to blame.
Patrick replied that it had just been "a bit of fun" and reminded his ex-wife that she was the one who ended things between them and chose Antone and on that note Yolande left. But it looked as though Patrick quickly regretted his words.Talking about her return a TV insider told The Sun: "This will be a huge thrill for EastEnders fans as she is considered something of a favourite among devotees.
"She’s just one of several characters making a return to Albert Square and though she might not be as high profile as Ian and Cindy, she will certainly get just as rapturous a reception from veteran viewers." Fans of EastEnders flocked to Twitter to express their shock at Yolande's return. One wrote: "Yolande is back and all is good with the world." A second said: "Yolande does not look a single second older than she did in 2008, ageless iconic queen of the Square." Another agreed and commented: "Yolande just never ages #EastEnders Please make her a permanent character." "YOLANDE IS BACK I CAN’T BELIEVE IT", exclaimed one
