Elizabeth Hope, then 18, remembers having painful headaches and falling asleep at 5pm every day while studying for her A-levels, in the hope of going to university to become a teacher.
Doctors initially put her drowsiness down to stress, depression and anxiety, but after regularly falling asleep at 5pm after school, she later discovered she ME, also know as chronic fatigue syndrome - a long term health condition which can make physical and mental tasks extremely tiring.

Even going to the shop for 10 or 20 minutes was exhausting for Elizabeth, from Cheltenham, Gloucestershire, who could 'barely walk' and therefore decided to start using a wheelchair and pulled the plug on university.
Elizabeth was studying for her A-levels in 2014 and looking forward to a career in teaching when she began getting headaches and feeling extremely tired.
“Everyone assumed that it was depression or stress because of my age and the fact that I was doing my A-levels,” she told PA Real Life. But her tiredness soon became alarming.
“I would get home from school and just fall asleep at around 5pm,” she continued. “My mum would wake me for dinner and then I’d maybe do like an hour’s homework, which is absolutely not enough when you’re studying for your A-levels, and then fall asleep again.”
