Selome Hailu The CW has given a series order to “Sherlock & Daughter,” a scripted series starring David Thewlis. With Thewlis as Sherlock Holmes, the series puts the detective out of his comfort zone, mysteriously unable to investigate a sinister case without risking the lives of his closest friends. He then meets Amelia (Blu Hunt), an American who, after her mother’s mysterious murder, learns that Sherlock may be her missing father.
Despite wildly different backgrounds and attitudes, the pair must work together to solve a global conspiracy, crack her mother’s murder and find out for sure if she really is Sherlock’s daughter. The cast also includes Dougray Scott as Holmes’ nemesis, Moriarty. Brendan Foley created “Sherlock & Daughter” while James Duff showruns.
They both executive produce alongside Karine Martin, Chris Philip, Peter Gerwe, Dominic Barlow, Ivan Dunleavy and Escapade Media. Micah War Dog Wright and Shelly Goldstein both serve as writiners. The series hails from Starlings Television Distribution, Albion Television and StoryFirst.
The news came during the CW’s presentation at the Television Critics Association’s winter 2024 press tour, where the network also announced series orders for new game shows based on “Trivial Pursuit” and Scrabble.” Also announced at TCA were premiere dates for the network’s spring slate.
