S Club 7 star Hannah Spearritt has opened up about the death of her bandmate and ex boyfriend Paul Cattermole, tearfully admitting on Dancing on Ice that she took his loss "hard".
The singer and actress, 42, is best known as a member of pop group S Club 7 for five years - during which time she struck up a romance with her fellow bandmate Paul Cattermole. The pair split up in 2006 and Hannah has since moved on with partner Adam Thomas, who she shares two daughters with - a four year old and a two year old. Hannah made her skating debut on Dancing on Ice tonight and spoke about the death of Paul - who passed away in April last year at the age of 46.
Speaking in a pre-recorded segment ahead of her skating routine, Hannah said, "Me and Paul, we grew up together. He was the heart of the band. "When Paul died, it was hard.
It's been a challenging year and things will never be the same again." Paul was due to reunite with his fellow S Club 7 stars for a 25th anniversary tour before he suddenly died from 'multiple heart issues'. His tragic death was reportedly caused by 'cardiac arrhythmia, acute myocardial ischaemia and severe coronary artery atheroma and intraplaque haemorrhage'. Paul's passing left his band mates reeling, with the group issuing a statement in tribute to him.
"We are truly devastated by the passing of our brother Paul," they wrote. "There are no words to describe the deep sadness and loss we all feel. We were so lucky to have had him in our lives and are thankful for the amazing memories we have.
