Pupils at Dalry School have raised more than £1,000 for the Syria and Turkey earthquake appeal.
A fundraising event was held at the school and it was decided the funds should go to Mary’s Meals earthquake appeal.
The charity already works in Syria providing meals for children and following the earthquake their partner in Syria has been able to respond quickly in the provision of food aid.
One of the English teachers already had links with the charity and was reassured that the funds would go where they were needed most.
It was felt appropriate that pupils at Dalry should be fundraising to help other children and that continued when an Easter raffle was held to coincide with handing the cheque over to Mary’s Meals.
The fundraising activities have so far raised £1,070.
It costs £19.15 to feed a child for a whole school year through Mary’s Meals. For more info, visit www.marysmeals.org.uk/campaigns/syria-earthquake-appeal
