Perth and Kinross is now recording its highest ever COVID-19 infection rate.
Over 30 people in every 1000 currently have the virus, with the rate sitting at 313.3 per 100,000 on June 25.Just seven days earlier, the infection rate was 159.3.It is the first time the seven-day rate has been above 300 per 100,000.The proportion of positive tests has also broken through the five per cent target and now sits at eight per cent.It comes after a huge increase in cases across the region, with 476 recorded

Perth and Kinross will see many COVID restrictions removed from Monday, July 19, it was confirmed today. However, First Minister Nicola Sturgeon did caveat the announcement that the country will move to level zero on July 19 "with modifications".One of these mitigations is that mandatory face coverings will remain in place "for some time to come".
