Coronavirus infection rates continue to plummet in all 10 boroughs of Greater Manchester. A total of 8,479 people tested positive for covid across the region in the week which ended April 10.
That's down by 5,338 cases compared to the previous seven days, which means the infection rate fell 39 per cent week-on-week. In Greater Manchester as a whole, the infection rate is now 299.0 cases per 100,000 population.

The national average is 403.8. Trafford, where there are 394.8 cases per 100,000 people, continues to have the highest coronavirus infection rate in Greater Manchester. Manchester, where the rate is 234.8 cases per 100,000 people, has the lowest.
Hospital admissions
In the week ending April 10, a total of 715 patients were admitted to Greater Manchester NHS hospitals with Covid-19. That is 86 fewer than the week before, a fall of 14 per cent. On Tuesday April 12, there were 16 Mechanical Ventilation (MV) beds occupied by Covid patients in Greater Manchester NHS hospitals. That is two more than a week earlier. This is the most recent available data for hospital admissions, the figures for NHS trusts are not updated daily.
