Coronation Street's Vicky Entwistle has shared an update on the search for missing teenager Jay Slater, who has disappeared in Tenerife.
The soap star revealed her personal connection to the case, explaining that Jay is her godmother's grandson.
The 19 year old was last seen days ago after attending a music festival on the Spanish island. He reportedly called his friends saying he was in the "middle of nowhere". Vicky, known for playing Janice Battersby on the ITV show, has been keeping in touch with the worried family and urged her fans to pray for Jay's safe return.
She updated followers on the search efforts, writing: "I know all the authorities are pulling out all the stops to find him. Helicopters and drones etc." She also expressed hope in another message, saying: "It seems everyone is looking so that gives us all some hope that he will be found." Jay, from Oswaldtwistle in Lancashire, was last seen wearing a grey sports top with a light green strip on the shoulders and carrying a black bag. Vicky has been sharing missing posters of Jay online.
Jay's mum has expressed regret over encouraging her son to go on holiday to Tenerife, as the search for the missing apprentice bricklayer continues into its fourth day.
The initial search began in the mountainous Rural Teno Park, a hiker's haven near Santiago del Teide, but has since expanded to include tourist hotspots close to Jay's accommodation, such as Los Cristianos and Playa de Las Americas. On Tuesday, Vicky shared her distress online: "My God Mother's Grandson has gone missing. His Mother has flown out 7pm.
To join the police search.
Hope to God they find him. Please pray for him." As word spread, Vicky's fans have been offering words of comfort and hope. One empathetic
