Coronation Street's Ken Barlow could be set to face more trouble after ITV viewers recently witnessed the long-standing character suffer a nasty fall, which resulted in him needing a carer for his injuries. The cost of a professional carer proved too steep for the Barlow family, which was overheard by Cassie Plummer (Claire Sweeney) and despite having no qualifications, she suggested she help out.
She managed to convince Steve McDonald that she could care for Ken after looking after an ex-boyfriend. Steve chose not to disclose her lack of credentials to Ken but the truth was soon revealed on her first day on the job.
Ken was less than impressed with Cassie's professionalism as she rummaged through his belongings looking for his medication as she admitted that she wasn't from a care agency. He quickly decided to dismiss her, angered by the deception, leading Steve to admit he'd hired her due to financial constraints.
In Wednesday's episode, viewers saw Cassie return to get her keys from the home, which ended up with her having to a heart-to-heart with Ken.
Their conversation seemed to change his mind, as Steve later found them enjoying a game together, reports the Express. Despite Cassie's lack of qualifications, Ken announced he had no issue with her caring for him and would personally cover her wages.
Coronation Street spectators couldn't help but share their predictions and thoughts on Twitter about the terrifying prospect of Cassie, a prior addict, potentially exploiting her newfound position. User @RyanTheSoapking speculated: "Cassie is obviously going to steal something valuable off Ken and then flog it [sic]." Another fan expressed fear over Cassie's intentions as they added: "Cassie is after Ken's cash now."
