Comedian Jimmy Tarbuck has confessed to a hit-and-run incident near his swanky £5.5million home, just days after his sister's funeral. The 83 year old funnyman was caught on camera driving his Lexus away from the scene, leaving behind a trail of damaged cars, reports the Daily Mirror.
Jimmy Tarbuck didn't appear in person at Lavender Hill Magistrates' Court but pleaded guilty by post to several charges including driving without due care and attention, failing to stop after an accident, and not reporting the accident which happened on May 15.
The court heard that the crash took place in a posh gated community in Coombe Park, close to Jimmy's Kingston-Upon-Thames home. He was handed a fine of £716, ordered to pay costs of £110 and a victim surcharge of £286.
His previously clean driving licence was also marked with five penalty points.
The prosecutor, Laura-Ann Harding, told the court about the incident which happened around 3.30pm: "The defendant drove a vehicle without due care and attention. They collided heavily into stationary vehicles, causing severe damage and at the same time an accident occurred with another vehicle, a Vauxhall Corsa and they failed to stop when required and give their name and address. "Multiple vehicles were hit and one was shunted forward three houses.
Nobody was injured as all the vehicles were parked and empty at the time." The court was shown a video from a Ring doorbell, which showed Jimmy's car dragging a Vauxhall Corsa along with his own before leaving the accident scene. Jimmy sent an apology letter to the court.
Bench chair Dr Samantha Cobb said: "We have read his mitigation and the bench fully accept he is full of remorse and is deeply apologetic. We accept this was utterly out of keeping
