“I would have [been nervous], but [director Mark Dindal] very early on let me know that his vision for the sound of this character, the voice that he’s always heard coming out of this animation he’s been working on for years before I even met him, was my voice,” Chris told MovieWeb.
“He said, ‘I want him to sound like you. You’ve got a natural sarcastic sort of laziness about your voice that really works for this character,’” he added. “And I thought, well damn, that makes it look easy. That’s easy — I’m not coming in and trying to do anything other than just be myself and breathe my own spirit into the role.”
Chris also reacted to a question asking if he was feeling trepidation following Bill Murray‘s portrayal of Garfield in the 2004 movie Garfield: The Movie and it’s sequel.
“Well, of course, he’s the GOAT. He’s on my comedy Mount Rushmore,” he replied.

Chris Willman Senior Music Writer and Chief Music Critic There are subwoofers embedded in the seats of Las Vegas’ Sphere, which is part of the reason why Mickey Hart‘s nightly extended percussion segment, titled simply “Drums,” is one of the clear highlights of Dead & Company’s current 30-show residency at the venue. But that’s not the only great use Hart has been making of low-end frequencies that people can experience when they come in for a show by the Grateful Dead offshoot.

Rebecca Rubin Senior Film and Media Reporter “Garfiosa”? “Furiofield”? Whatever the portmanteau for this Memorial Day weekend’s dual release of “Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga” and “The Garfield Movie,” the two newcomers are aiming to jolt the sluggish summer season. Jack Dunn Before becoming one of Hollywood’s most beloved leading men, Chris Pratt lived in an apartment behind the TLC Chinese Theater. Well into the early morning, he would wander on the Walk of Fame and stare at the stars beneath his feet, wondering if his time in the spotlight would ever come. Pratt returned to the Hollywood landmark on Sunday, not to lament over broken dreams, but to help introduce Garfield creator Jim Davis as he cemented his signature outside the TLC Chinese Theater at “The Garfield Movie” premiere.

Carlos Aguilar The lasagna-obsessed feline with a near-pathological aversion to Mondays, who first came into popular consciousness in the late ‘70s as a comic strip, is a diluted version of himself in “The Garfield Movie.” Not only is his suave apathy mostly replaced by an excessive excitedness with only sporadic glimpses of his endearingly negative qualities, but this Garfield jumps off trains, stages a heist, and is subjected to trite physical comedy by way of numerous predictable action sequences. The ordeal mimics a rehashed plot from the dull “The Secret Life of Pets” franchise with Garfield forcefully plugged in.
