More than eight million households across Great Britain are expected to have received a £301 lump sum payment by May 17 as part of the £900 means-tested cost of living financial support from the UK Government. Payments have been made directly to eligible claimants in receipt of qualifying benefits from the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) and HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) since April 25.
While the focus has been on the means-tested payment windows, eligibility and qualifying periods for the various benefits including Universal Credit, Tax Credits and Pension Credit, it’s worth remembering that around six million people are set to receive a one-off payment for £150 this summer. The money will be made automatically to people in receipt of nine disability benefits including Personal Independence Payment (PIP), Adult Disability Payment (ADP) and Attendance Allowance.
This guidance on GOV.UK will be updated with the qualifying date for the £150 payment when it has been announced.
You may be entitled to the payment if you get any of the following benefits on a certain date:
The guidance explains that “most people” will be paid the £150 Disability Cost of Living Payment during summer 2023.
It adds: “This guidance will be updated with the payment dates before the payments start.”
Payments will be made to people who were getting a qualifying disability from DWP before payments to people who were getting a qualifying benefit from the Ministry of Defence.
Your payment might come later, for example if you’re awarded a qualifying benefit at a later date or you change the account your benefit is paid into. However, it’s important to note that you will still be paid the cost of living payment automatically.
