Charles Foster dead – Coronation Street and Emmerdale actor turned ITV announcer dies

Broadcaster Charles Foster has passed away after delighting audiences as one of the faces of the North West's Granada TV channel throughout the 70s, 80s and 90s.The veteran ITV staple, was also an accomplished actor with roles in the ITV dramas Coronation Street, Emmerdale and Crown Court. Most recently he had provided the voice over on ITV's Judge Rinder programme, having also previously worked on Catchphrase and The Krypton Factor. Immediately following the announcement of his sad death, tributes have flooded in from all around the country.
Granada Reports' producer Rob Jaskowski lead the tributes as he wrote: "Charles was such a nice person. I remember being star stuck on my first day at Granada on work placement in 1984 when I sat with him in the canteen at Quay Street." "He was great to chat with and a true inspiration. Condolences to his family and friends." BBC presenter Steve Saul wrote: "Sorry to hear the reports of the death of former Granada TV continuity announcer and voiceover Charles Foster.
"Along with Colin Weston and Jim Pope they were the friendly face of ITV when I was growing up. "I would have loved to have been an in-vision continuity announcer." Several fans were also quick to pay tribute to Charles, with one even writing: "His voice was incredible, and very much one of the defining voices of Granada television.” Another also couldn’t hide their grief at his death, as they reflected on his iconic voice, adding: "Granada had such a distinctive announcing team but Charles Foster stood out among them as ‘The’ Voice of Granada. “Be it in the North West, or on the network, on game shows, promos & so on.
And of course, that unmistakable avuncular on-camera presence. Goodnight, Charles. RIP." Another
