A violent wife's 20-year campaign of abuse against her husband has been laid bare in a new TV documentary.
'My Wife My Abuser' viewers were left in tears over Richard Spencer's devastating story and urged men to speak out.
The film shared Richard's story with Channel 5 viewers as they were given an insight into how his wife Sheree Spencer abused him for two decades. During a series of interviews, Richard broke down in tears as he recalled the extent of the abuse he was subject to throughout his marriage.
Viewers were horrified as he shared the most "demoralising thing" that happened to him. He said: "The most demoralising thing that happened to me. I was sitting on the bedroom floor because Sheree wouldn't let me sit on the bed.
"She got up to go to the toilet and I was facing where the bathroom was, the next minute I just realised that she defecated on my head," The Mirror reports here.
In an audio clip of the horrific incident, Richard could be heard saying: "I don't deserve it." Sheree replied: "You do deserve it. Go and scrub away you c*** and clean my s*** up."
Channel 5 viewers watched terrifying nanny cam footage that exposed Sheree's abuse from their Bubwith home in East Yorkshire. In one clip, Sheree can be seen spitting at her husband and grabbing him by the throat.
Richard also required stitches in one incident where she hit him on the back of the head with a wine glass. He handed over 43 photographs of injuries, 36 video clips and nine mobile recordings to the police documenting the abuse.
Channel 5 viewers were left horrified by the abuse shown in the documentary and took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to share their hopes that other men in similar abusive situations will find the courage to speak up.
