CBS Cancels ‘United States of Al’ After Two Seasons

CBS likes to renew its strongest series early; last year, the FBI franchise and The Equalizer were picked up in March. When May rolled around this year and none of the the Universal Television-produced CBS drama series, the highly rated FBI dramas and The Equalizer, as well as solid Friday performer Magnum P.I., had been renewed, it was clear that the two sides were going through grueling negotiations.

Chuck Lorre is a comedy veteran so he’s seen his fair share of cancelations.

CBS is not proceeding with a fifth season of Magnum P.I. With Bull announcing in January that its current sixth season will be its last, Magnum P.I. is the most established CBS series to be canceled this season. As a Top 25 show in total viewers, it also may be the most watched broadcast series to get the axe this upfront season.

The CW’s Roswell, New Mexico will not return after four seasons. Season 4 will air as planned beginning June 6.
