After a long-range opener from Lens which saw Florian Sotoca lob the high-positioned Andre Onana on his home debut, Marcus Rashford found an equaliser shortly after half-time.
Antony edged United ahead on 53 minutes before Rashford’s header ricocheted off Casemiro to hand United a third six minutes later. Earlier in the game, Mason Mount - also making his Old Trafford bow - missed a sitter from six yards out when he failed to find an open goal.
But he otherwise put in a decent shift as he and many others in a strong starting line-up played the whole match. Here are a handful of moments fans may have missed during the 90 minutes.

Casemiro looked as stunned as the rest of Old Trafford when Rashford’s header bounced off his head and into the net for United’s third goal. The Brazilian didn’t know anything about it and looked very sheepish as he walked away beaming.
As he was being congratulated by his teammates, the smiling Casemiro turned to Bruno Fernandes holding his nose as if tending to it after receiving a blow. Both broke out in laughter.
It’s something that Diogo Dalot mentioned earlier in the week, and Luke Shaw demonstrated it perfectly 15 minutes into the second half. With the ball wide, Shaw took up a central position before driving forward into the box.
