Cary Elwes, Stockard Channing, Christopher Lloyd, Paul Scheer & Rob Huebel Join ‘Sonic The Hedgehog’ Spinoff Series ‘Knuckles’

Idris Elba is addressing those James Bond casting rumors and the public’s reaction to them.

Jake Johnson’s feature directorial debut, titled “Self Reliance,” is coming to Hulu on Sept. 8.

Hulu has acquired the U.S. rights to Jake Johnson’s feature directorial debut Self Reliance, in a competitive deal with MRC and Paramount Global Content Distribution.

Kadi’s first feature was the 2012 indie immigrant drama “The Citizen,” starring Egyptian actor Khaled Nabawy as a Lebanese immigrant who wins a green card through the U.S. lottery system and arrives in New York to claim his documents on Sept. 10, 2001. The drama, also starring Cary Elwes, then follows the protagonist’s hellish 10-year path to citizenship in post-9/11 America, including his detainment by homeland security and his deportation trial.

James Bond.The British actor, 50, has been a fan-favorite choice to play the super spy in recent years.However, due to the racial recoil he’s received about the possible role, Elba’s speculative casting has left a bad taste in his mouth.The “Luther” actor recently sat down with Will Arnett, Jason Bateman and Sean Hayes for an episode of their “SmartLess” podcast, where he said he was “super complimented” by the Bond rumors.But the prejudiced backlash got to him.“I was like, ‘This is crazy!’ Because James Bond… We’re all actors and we understand that role. It’s one of those coveted [roles],” Elba explained.

Back in 2015, for example, the author Anthony Horowitz notoriously wrote that Elba was “too street” to play James Bond. “The truth is, I was super complimented for a long time about this,” Elba said about originally embracing the idea about playing Bond. “I was like, ‘This is crazy!’ James Bond…We’re all actors and we understand that role. It’s one of those coveted [roles]. Being asked to be James Bond was like, ‘Ok, you’ve sort of reached the pinnacle’. That’s one of those things the whole world has a vote in.”

A substantial amount of the hotly anticipated action film was shot in the Italian capital. “Dead Reckoning Part One” follows the events of “Fallout,” where Tom Cruise’s Ethan Hunt and his crew of secret agents saved the world from a nuclear apocalypse amid a series of double-crosses. The 2018 release was the highest-grossing entry in the franchise yet, earning nearly $800 million at the global box office.

Cary Elwes (“The Princess Bride,” “Robin Hood: Men in Tights”), Stockard Channing (“Grease,” “The West Wing”), Christopher Lloyd (“Back to the Future,” “The Addams Family”), Paul Scheer (“Black Monday,” “Veep”), and Rob Huebel (“Children’s Hospital,” “Bob’s Burgers”) have all joined the series. Details on their characters are being kept under wraps. As previously announced, Idris Elba will once again voice the character Knuckles as he did in the film “Sonic the Hedgehog 2.” Other cast members include Adam Pally, reprising the role of Wade Whipple, as well as Edi Patterson, Julian Barratt, Scott Mescudi, and Ellie Taylor. Guest stars include Rory McCann and Tika Sumpter, with the latter reprising her role as Maddie.
