There’s a silver lining for the silver screen after the industry came to a halt at the outset of the coronavirus pandemic.
South by Southwest film festival, which was previously scheduled to kick off March 13, will stream many of its movies on Amazon Prime instead of the IRL event.
Films that were slated to premiere at the fest included Judd Apatow and Pete Davidson’s “King of Staten Island,” as well as Kitao Sakurai’s hidden camera comedy “Bad Trip” with Eric Andre, Lil Rel Howery and Tiffany

Amazon Prime Video is making it a little easier for you to decide what to watch next month with the exciting list of original shows and movies being added to its library. In May, Amazon will debut several new originals, including its new sci-fi series Upload, starring Robbie Amell, a four-part docuseries called The Last Narc, and Jimmy O. Yang's new comedy special. Amazon will also roll out the second season of Homecoming, which sees Janelle Monáe take the lead, in May.

The online event will support filmmakers affected by SXSW's cancellation
Amazon Prime Video announced that it will host a handful of titles that were set to screen at this year’s SXSW film festival. The SXSW 2020 Film Festival Collection will be open to all users with an Amazon login in the United States, not just those with a Prime subscription, for ten days. A launch date for the online festival has yet to be announced. See more details about the program here.

Amazon, in partnership with Apple, has quietly turned on a new feature in Prime Video’s apps for Apple devices that lets users buy or rent TV shows and movies, using the in-app payment feature.
SiriusXM and Howard Stern on Tuesday said North American listeners will get free access to The Howard Stern Showand other premium SiriusXM content through May 15. The free access to premium content from the auto entertainment giant controlled by John Malone comes as consumers increasingly shelter in their homes as the coronavirus outbreak spreads.
