A major road in Edinburgh has been locked down following an incident with drivers told to avoid the area.
Emergency services scrambled to Calder Road, in the Sighthill area of the city, at around 1.15pm this afternoon. The dual carriageway was closed by Police Scotland after the incident, with traffic diverted away from the scene.
Police placed a blue tent in the middle of the road and cordoned off the street with tape and barriers.
An image from the scene shows police cars sitting stationary on the road, with multiple officers standing nearby. Another shows an ambulance parked behind the bus that is believed to have been involved in the tragic incident.
Police Scotland have confirmed that the road is locked down.
A spokesperson for the nationwide force said: "We can confirm that the road is closed between Longstone roundabout and Sighthill roundabout."
Calder Road has been closed as far as HMP Edinburgh.
Traffic is currently being halted as far as the prison with an officer diverting traffic.
Commuters in the capital have been warned to expect delays as police remain at the scene of the incident.
Bus passengers and motorists have been advised to expect congestion on Calder Road in Edinburgh as emergency crews remain in attendance.

Emergency crews were raced to Calder Road in Edinburgh after receiving reports of concern for a person at 1.05pm today.
Officers say inquiries remain at an early stage.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 1.05pm on Tuesday, 14 November, 2023, police were called to Calder Road, Edinburgh, following a report of concern for a person.
“Emergency services are in attendance and enquiries are at an early stage.”
