BTS Makes History as First K-Pop Band to Go Platinum in the US

It was a moment of pride for the South Korean film industry after Parasite bagged the highest number of awards at the 92nd Academy Awards over the weekend. The Korean drama film not only won Best International Film but also bagged the Oscar for Best Directing and Best Picture. Soon enough, the internet was flooded with congratulatory messages addressing director Bong Joon Ho and the team of Parasite. BTS joined social media users to congratulate Parasite for their historic win.

Parasite, Bong Joon Ho’s dark comedy juggernaut, made history at the2020 Independent Spirit Awardsas it took home the ceremony's best international film prize.The film, which is up for five Academy Awards including best picture, was the first ever South Korea winner at the annual awards show.

South Korean agency Big Hit Entertainment, which manages the phenomenal BTS among many other K-Pop bands, turns 15 this month. To celebrate the special occasion (and basically break the internet), Big Hit decided to bring together three brands from their house together in one frame.

BTS has yet again made history: The Recording Industry Association of America has declared the act’s 2018 Billboard 200-topping LP Love Yourself: Answer as the act’s first platinum-selling album in the U.S.Answer, which was released Aug. 24 2018, was the first-ever South Korean album to be certified gold by the RIAA and has now sold more than 1 million copies.

Ariana Grande appeared to reveal BTS will be the secret headliners at the Grammys, after posing with the K-pop superstars during rehearsals.

It is no secret that BTS singer Jin and South Korean actor Lee Yi Kyung are friends. Jin and Kyung met in acting school and have been friends ever since.

Parasite created history at the SAG Awards. The South Korean black comedy won the Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture at the prestigious awards show, which is the SAG equivalent of the best picture at the Oscars.

At the 26th annual Screen Actors Guild Awards on Sunday night (Jan. 19), the award for outstanding performance by an ensemble in a motion picture went to Parasite, a South Korean black comedy thriller directed by Bong Joon-ho.

BTS might be busy with the release of Map of the Soul 7 but RM has more reasons than one to celebrate. A few weeks ago, K-Pop fans were treated to Winter Flower.

BTS released their new single titled Black Swan earlier this weekend. The new song was unlike any of BTS' previous songs. The new song has the South Korean boys come together to record a song revolving around a performer's life. The video, on the other hand, saw none of the BTS members perform. Instead, it saw performers from MN Dance Company come together and present an art film performed on the tunes of the K-Pop band's new Map of the Soul: 7 tunes. 

Brian May also revealed at a press conference that the release of the 'Bohemian Rhapsody' biopic had screaming fans waiting for them at the airport in Seoul.

BTS will be performing their new single “Black Swan” for the first time on The Late Late Show with James Corden later this month, the CBS late night show announced today (Jan. 17).   

As promised, BTS has released their first song titled Black Swan. The music video is the first official song from their album Maps of the Soul 7.

It was a day to remember for the K-Pop band SF9. The South Korean band has been in the music scene for over three years and it was not until this week that they won their first award.
