One Day star Leo Woodall (who plays Dexter Mayhew in the series) will be joining the sequel, Bridget Jones: Mad About The Boy.
Leo has become a household name since starring in the Netflix series adapted from the novel by David Nicholls, alongside Ambika Mod, who plays Emma Morley, in One Day. The film will take its title from the latest Bridget Jones novel, published in 2013 by Helen Fielding.
And it sees Bridget in her 50s a mother to two children and widowed following the death of Mark Darcy (Colin Firth) – however, it’s not clear whether this is the plot that the film adaptation will follow. Also confirmed to be joining Renée and Leo are Emma Thompson (who played Doctor Rawlings in the last film) and 12 Years a Slave actor Chiwetel Ejiofor. Hugh Grant, who played Daniel Cleaver in films one and two, is also set to reprise his role.
He was absent in the last film, Bridget Jones’ Baby, as Daniel was supposedly killed in a plane crash. But at the end of the film he was confirmed to be alive and well. Bridget Jones: Mad About The Boy is set to be released on Valentine’s Day 2025 in the US, but it has not been confirmed when it will debut in the UK.
