A cyclist is fighting for his life in hospital after being hit by a tram in Wythenshawe.
The 77-year-old man was riding his bike on Simonsway yesterday afternoon (Thursday) when he collided with the tram at the Robinswood Road Metrolink stop. Police said he 'entered the level crossing area'.
He was rushed to hospital from the scene where he remains in a critical condition. No arrests have been made, Greater Manchester Police said in an update issued this morning.

The tram driver is assisting police with the investigation. Following the incident yesterday, tram services were halted as an air ambulance landed nearby.
Police are keen to speak to any witnesses, particularly anyone who has footage of the incident. In a statement, a Greater Manchester Police spokesperson said: "At around 2.20pm yesterday (Thursday 17 August 2023), officers were called to reports of an incident on Simonsway, Wythenshawe.
"It was established that a cyclist had collided with a tram after entering the level crossing area. The cyclist, a 77-year-old male, is in a critical condition in hospital.
"No arrests have been made and both the tram driver and Metrolink are assisting the police with their enquiries. Officers would like to speak to anyone who may have witnessed the collision occur, or those who may have footage of the incident – including CCTV, mobile or dashcam - should contact the Serious Collision Investigation Unit on 0161 856 4741 quoting log 2052 of 17/08/23."
Transport for Greater Manchester has also been contacted for a comment.
