Human remains have been tragically uncovered by demolition workers in Oldham over the weekend. On Saturday (July 23) the remains were found at Bismark House Mill, Bower Street, in Oldham.
Detectives from GMP’s Oldham district and Major Incident Team have confirmed that, on Saturday, May 7, 2022, Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service attended a fire at the premises which was extinguished over four days. At this time, it was not believed that anyone was inside the mill.
Police later received a report on Thursday 21 July 2022 that four Vietnamese nationals were missing and may have been involved in a fire. Investigations are now ongoing, and anyone with information is urged to contact police with any relevant information.

A huge emergency services presence was pictured at the site throughout Monday afternoon (July 25). Forensics, as well as officers from GMP, fire crews and the Urban Search and Rescue teams are at the scene conducting enquiries.
GMP Assistant Chief Constable Rob Potts said: "Victims and the bereaved are at the forefront of our investigations into deaths. As such, whilst work is ongoing to confirm the identity of the deceased, we are liaising with partner agencies to ensure potential family members in Vietnam are fully informed and supported.
