Officers searching for a missing mum-of-three near Tameside have found a body. Derbyshire Police confirmed the discovery of a body believed to be that of 73-year-old Yvonne Backhouse this afternoon (January 15).
Yvonne was reported missing on Saturday after a carer who attended her home in Tintwistle found she wasn't in as expected. She had been seen at her home, in the High Peak village, last Friday evening.
A large search operation took place, but Derbyshire Police has now sadly confirmed a body has been found. A spokesperson for Derbyshire Police posted on X (formerly Twitter): "A body believed to be that of missing Tintwistle woman Yvonne has been found.

"Specially trained officers are supporting Yvonne's family at this extremely difficult time. We would like to thank members of the public who came forward to help over the weekend."
In an urgent appeal issued on Saturday, the force said they were 'extremely concerned for her welfare'. Yvonne, who had two daughters and a son, was a dinner lady at Hadfield Infant School.
Yvonne's daughter Stacey Meyer, 31, told the Manchester Evening News yesterday that 11 police units were involved in the search for her mum, along with mountain rescue teams and drones. She said her family had 'no idea' why she had 'disappeared without a trace'.
Stacey, from Ashton-under-Lyne, added: "She was born and bred in Tintwistle and lives on the street she grew up on. So she's very well known in the area."
