A mum temporarily pulled her son out of school because he was put into isolation because of his Easter break haircut, she claims. Charlie Deyes, 14, had the bottom half of his head shaved while the top was trimmed on Sunday, shortly before the was due to return to school after the holidays.
But his mum, Sam Deyes, described how shocked she was when the school phoned her to state Charlie had been placed in isolation because the haircut "did not meet school uniform policy". Following the incident, she took Charlie back to the hairdressers on Monday "in an attempt to satisfy the school".
Despite her efforts, the school put Charlie back into isolation the following day, which led to Sam pulling her son out. "He had his haircut before he got back to school. I took him to school and then I got a phone call that basically said that they've had to put Charlie into isolation," Sam said.

"I asked, 'Why?' and they said, 'Because of his haircut, it doesn't meet the school policies'. They said it because of a fade line or something and you could see two contrasting colours.
" I said, 'Well, obviously you're going to see two contrasting colours because half of it's shaved and the top of it's trimmed'. He's not added colours or anything like that."
Same claimed that the head of year teacher justified the isolation during a meeting on Monday morning after the call by stating Charlie's trim was "distracting other pupils". During the isolation, she claims that her son was put in a both in a locked room and was only allowed to to the toilet twice a day escorted by a teacher.
