A seven-year-old boy had been killed in a hit and run with police searching for a driver who left the scene before emergency services arrived.
The crash happened at around 5.35pm in Folkestone, Kent on Wednesday, December 6, on the A259 Sandgate Esplanade near its junction with Prospect Road. It involved two vehicles, an unidentified car or van and a red Citroen car.
Emergency services raced to the incident but the child was tragically pronounced dead at the scene, the Mirror reports. His next of kin have been informed.
Police in Kent are now appealing to the public for witnesses and are asking anyone who has information or dashcam footage to contact them.
At least 10 emergency units were spotted at the scene, and a large police cordon was in place on the road late on Wednesday, before the road reopened to traffic at 7.30am on Thursday.
One person told local media that the driver left the child "dying in the middle of the road".
