A man's body has been found near a block of flats in Motherwell.
Police have launched a probe after the 22-year-old man was discovered in the Alexander Path area at around 1am on Sunday.
Officers were responding to reports of a concern for a person when they raced to the flats.
Ambulance crews attended but the young man was pronounced dead at the scene.
The death is currently being treated as "unexplained" and officers say their enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “We were called around 1.05am on Sunday, August 20, to a report of a concern for person in the Alexander Path area of Motherwell.
“Emergency services attended and a 22-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene. The death is being treated as unexplained and enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances.”
