In a moving interview with the Daily Star, Bobby, 64, was overcome with emotion as he tearfully explained how the couple were coping. He told the publication it was "horrific" to see someone as "beautiful as her" suffer. “It’s extremely, extremely, extremely painful," he said.
“Thank goodness I’ve got my work because it keeps my mind off this for a bit of time." The 64 year old has just completed a run of Easter pantos and is set to perform a stand-up charity gig with his old friend Jim Davidson in Great Yarmouth to raise money for The Caister Lifeboat Appeal. Bobby continued: “I don’t want the fact I’m keeping working to sound selfish. Everyone who knows me knows it’s just a distraction for a bit of time from trying to help Vicky.
“I need to see people laughing, and I like that I can still make people laugh while dealing with this. Vicky’s illness is a tragedy, and it’s been a personal and family tragedy until now. But now I hope talking about it can help other people.” Bobby said by speaking out he hopes he can help the "millions of other people" in a similar position.
He explained how he wanted to help them "push forward" and "get back up".The entertainer also advised anyone in a similar position to use laughter to heal their pain.
