Britain’s Got Talent judge Alesha Dixon was left in tears after she hit her Golden Buzzer for "superstar" theatre act Chickenshed on Saturday's show. The singer and television personality, 44, was moved to tears during tonight’s show (April 22) after she heard the group's rendition of Emeli Sande's hit Wonder.
As the group took to the stage, they introduced themselves as members of the London theatre group Chickenshed, a theatre company "for absolutely everyone", that offers a "place for people where they didn’t have a place before". The audition was an instant hit with the judges and the audience, and it wasn’t long before the audience were on their feet clapping and dancing along.
As the song came to a close, Alesha and fellow judges Amanda Holden, Simon Cowell, and Bruno Tonioli gave Chickenshed a standing ovation, before Alesha leant over and pushed the coveted Golden Buzzer. For those not in the know, pressing the Golden Buzzer guarantees an act a ticket to the live semi-finals, even if the other judges all choose to press their red buzzers – not that there seemed to be any danger of that, as newcomer judge Bruno immediately hugged Alesha, with Simon giving her a high five.
Alesha could be seen with tears streaming down her face after pressing the buzzer as Chickenshed celebrated on stage under a shower of golden confetti, before she left her judges chair to join the group on stage, telling lead singer Cara: "You’re a superstar. An absolute superstar," before hugging other members of the group and returning to her seat.
