As the grand finale of The Traitors creeps ever closer to its dramatic conclusion, host Claudia Winkleman has revealed the one moment on set that left her and the crew “physically shaking.” The 52 year old host, who swapped the Strictly Come Dancing ballroom for the presenting gig on the whodunnit-inspired gameshow for the second year running, opened up about her time on set on Thursday evening’s edition of The One Show, 25 January. While chatting to hosts Lauren Laverne and Alex Jones, Claudia admitted there wasn’t too much she could say about the show while it was still airing, as she didn’t want to ruin the magic for viewers at home so close to the final - or to give the game away to viewers who may not even have started watching the show yet at all.
However, one of the things she did let slip was just how intense an experience shooting on the show was, as she recalled one particular moment during filming that was so dramatic it left her and the crew “physically shaking”. “There was one roundtable, where they throw the chairs in the air,” explained Claudia before continuing, “and there are hidden cameras and the crew came out and we were all honestly, physically shaking.” “And we were like, you know, this is not nothing.
There is something going on.
We just could not believe they were besides themselves - it was big.” The moment in question came during episode eight of the show’s second series, when Traitor Paul was uncloaked by the Faithfuls after playing a blinding game up until that point. Overwhelmed and delighted at having caught yet another Traitor so soon, an emotional celebration soon followed with plenty of jumping, hugging and running around thrown in to mark the occasion.
