Strictly Come Dancing's John Whaite had to unexpectedly step down from his current pantomime gig due to feeling unwell on the day of the highly-anticipated performance. Famed for his quickstep on the Strictly dance floor, John is currently part of the Cinderella cast performing in Bradford, but sadly he had to sit out his Thursday 28 December performance because of ill health, forcing an understudy to step into his shoes as Dandini. John took the time to share a dazzling snap of his co-star, professional actor William Elijah Lewis, over on Instagram Stories following the unfortunate news he wouldn't be able to perform.
He wrote: "This little superstar stood in for me today (I'm ill) and apparently he was sensational. Proud of you (and so bloody grateful for you) @williamelijahlewis)." The top-notch Cinderella team, while also includes Emmerdale's Samantha Giles and comedian Billy Pearce, will continue to wow audiences at The Alhambra Theatre until 21st January. Celebrity chef John’s pantomime stint comes after he recently surprised his fans by saying he's leaving TV for good.
This comes after his show, Steph's Packed Lunch, was taken off the air.
John first became famous when he won The Great British Bake Off in 2012. He then danced on Strictly in 2021 with Johannes Radebe, making history as part of the first male same-sex dance pair. John cooked on Steph's Packed Lunch from 2020, but the Channel 4 show was cancelled recently, something which John revealed, meant it was time to step back from being on TV.
In October, John went on Instagram to thank his fans for their kind words after his show stopped. He told them: "Thanks for all the lovely messages. Honestly, I am completely fine.
This is the truth.
