The much-anticipated second series of The Traitors is set to return to BBC - and fans don't have too long to wait. The nail-biting reality game show, presented by Strictly Come Dancing host Claudia Winkleman, made its debut on BBC One in November 2022 and was an instant hit with viewers.
The tense game sees 22 strangers move into a castle in the Scottish Highlands to complete a series of challenges and missions together as a team. But the catch is that amongst the loyal contestants hoping to win a cash prize of up to £120,000, there are some 'traitors' who are secretly setting out to sabotage the game and 'killing off' their fellow players one by one.
In the game of detection, strategy and suspicion, the 'faithfuls' aim is to suss out the 'traitors' lurking amongst them in order to win the big prize pot. This year The Traitors scooped a host of awards including a Bafta TV Award for best reality and constructed factual, and a National Television Award for best reality competition.

It also won the Royal Television Society (RTS) award for entertainment and the Broadcasting Press Guild Award for best entertainment programme. Now, after teasing that the TV show will be back for series two earlier this year, the BBC has confirmed that the programme will return in the new year at 9pm on January 3, 2024.
Taking to X, formerly Twitter, to confirm the news, the BBC tweeted alongside a short trailer: "#TheTraitors Series 2, coming to #BBCOne & #iPlayer on 3 Jan 2023."
