Carol Kirkwood has opened up on how her fiance wakes her up for her BBC Breakfast shifts.
The 61-year-old, who has just released her third novel, opened up about police officer Steve Randall in a recent interview where she spoke in more detail of their wedding plans and the adorable way that Steve wakes her up for her early 3am rises.
The couple live together in their home in Berkshire, and it has been a whirlwind few weeks for the TV star who has been travelling back and forth from London to report the weather from Wimbledon and publicising her latest book.
Speaking in a new interview with the Mirror, Carol explained the sweet way in which her "kind" husband-to-be Steve wakes her up at the crack of dawn.
She said: “He’s so kind, and that’s really important to me. I know kindness is a buzzword at the moment, but it’s really important in a relationship.
“Even though I say to him every time, ‘Don’t get up, you go back to sleep,’ he always insists on getting me my tea.
“You should be reliant on yourself for happiness. And if somebody else also makes you happy, that’s a huge bonus. I’ve learnt that you’re the author of your own destiny. If you want to remain happy, don’t make your life difficult – and surround yourself with people who lift your spirits.”
Carol also touched on her and Steve's marriage plans during the interview, as her new book Secrets Of The Villa Amore centres around a wedding.
“Yes, I do want to get married again,” she says.
“We’re very happy and we’re loved up, and we’re delighted to be together, but we haven’t got a wedding date yet. I think we’ll have an intimate wedding. We don’t want to just squeeze it in, we want it to be a celebration.”
