A popular Manchester bakery has announced big plans to open a second location. Companio Bakery has become a much-loved addition to Manchester's thriving, artisanal baking scene, and has now confirmed it will open a larger cafe space this summer.
Updating their followers on social media, the Radium Street bakery, which sells a range of breads, viennoiserie and sweet bakes said they were 'thrilled' to to be expanding into the Northern Quarter. They explained that while the first site will remain open, the new spot will be bigger and feature an indoor seating area.
The tiny bakery first opened in 2019, and has grown from a team of 2 to 11 in just a few years. It has become hugely popular, particularly for its almond croissants which they bake in small batches.

In a video post shared on Instagram, the owners wrote: "Hello everyone. Drum roll please. We're thrilled to announce that Companio is expanding to a new, larger cafe in the Northern Quarter this summer.
"From the small bakery in Ancoats established in 2019, we have grown from a team of 2 to a team of 11, and we are only going up from there.
"Our commitment to artisanal baking and the unwavering support from our loyal customers have driven us to this exciting milestone. We are deeply grateful for your patronage and look forward to continuing to serve you with the finest breads and pastries in an even bigger and better space, with indoor seating.
"Join us in celebrating this new chapter, and stay tuned for more details about our opening. We can't wait to welcome you in. All the best from Neil, Baneta and The Companio team."
