Arthurlie manager Colin Reilly is confident summer recruit Dylan Dykes can be a “massive player” for the Barrhead club this season.
The Dunterlie Park crowd got a first competitive glimpse of several new signings who have recently joined the club in Saturday’s WoSFL Premier Division opener.
One of the stars of their exciting 4-3 win against Cumnock Juniors was Dykes, who has only recently recovered from cancer.
The former Rangers youth star, who most recently turned out for Pollok, bagged a crucial brace – with the other efforts both own goals.
Mo Sugafara, who also just linked up with ‘Lie, was named player of the match after an impressive showing of his own on the wing.
And Reilly is delighted with how quickly his new signings have settled into the groove in Barrhead.
Reilly told the Paisley Daily Express: “Dylan has been fantastic for us since he’s come in.
“He’s a real threat and such a talented boy.
“He can be a massive player for us. I really liked him when I saw him play for St Cadoc’s and he ran rings around my team then.
“I’m delighted to get him in and he’s already proving his worth.
“Mo was absolutely outstanding as well. We picked him up from a showcase game and he is a really positive winger.
“He’s electric quick and has great delivery into the box as well. He’s got everything you need to be a good wide player.
“We’ve had pretty much a complete rebuild over the summer and all of the new signings showed up very well against Cumnock.
“It’s really positive that they’ve settled in so quickly and bodes well for the rest of the season.”
Arthurlie will look to make it back-to-back wins tomorrow night when they travel to Kirkintilloch to take on Rob Roy.
