Armed police swooped on streets near the centre of Oldham on Tuesday afternoon (August 15) following reports of a man 'with a gun'.
Officers attended the incident on Horsedge Street at around 3.30pm and closed off a number of roads, including nearby Yorkshire Street and Bailey Street with a police helicopter also circling the area overhead.
A witness at the scene told the M.E.N that there were a number of officers seen 'going in and out of an apartment' and reports from local residents police were 'guarding the entrance' to a building.

Pictures taken on Tuesday show a number of police vehicles at the scene, including an unmarked police car, as officers remained stationed outside a nearby building for a number of hours.
Two men have been arrested in connection with the incident, police said. One man in his 30s has been arrested on suspicion of possessing a firearm or imitation firearm and another man, aged in his 20s, has been arrested on suspicion of possession of Class B drugs with intent to supply. Both remain in custody to be questioned.
Specialist officers remained in attendance until the evening with extra patrols also introduced around the nearby area following the incident, that police currently believe is 'isolated'.
