The route includes a sprint in Hazel Grove, as well as two hill climbs — one in Grains Bar, Oldham, and one on The Rake in Ramsbottom, Bury. It’s 19 years since the starting point for the first edition of the modern incarnation of the race.
To facilitate the race, a slew of road closures and parking restrictions have been announced by councils. Below is a list of everything you need to know ahead of the excitement.
All road closures will be short-term, so there won’t be a need for any traffic diversions. Should the emergency services require access to anywhere along the route, this will be dealt with as a priority.
Full road closures will be in place from 1pm to 3pm at Carr Street, Tanners Street, Rawson’s Rake, The Rake and Chapel Lane. These short-term full closures are to accommodate the King of the Mountain Challenge
Rolling road closures will start around 15 minutes ahead of the lead cyclist. The closure then remains in place until all riders and race cars have passed through.
The list of short term road closures is:
Whalley Road (rolling closure)
Peel Brow (rolling closure)
Bridge Street (rolling closure)
Carr Street (full closure)
Helmshore Road (rolling closure)
Bolton Road West
