The government has confirmed that the autumn cost of living payment will be issued between October and November.
It means millions of households will receive a £300 payment from either the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) or HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC). However, a set of criteria must be met before households can receive the extra cash.
Firstly, a person must be claiming one of the qualifying means-tested benefits or Tax Credits during the qualifying period between August 18, 2023 and September 17, 2023. You must have either been entitled to a payment for a qualifying benefit or a payment for an assessment period within the qualifying period.

Here's a breakdown of the benefits that qualify a household for the £300 payment.
The £300 payment will be made to eligible households receiving the following benefits:
If you’re getting Tax Credits from HMRC and a low-income benefit from DWP, you will be paid by DWP only. If you’re getting both Child Tax Credit and Working Tax Credit, you will receive the £300 for Child Tax Credit only, which will be paid by HMRC.
