Alison Hammond has been joking about the side effect of being the new host of the Great British Bake Off ahead of her first appearance in the tent. It was announced earlier this year that the This Morning star would be the new co-host of the Channel 4 show alongside Noel Fielding.
A trailer released at the end of last month showd Alison in her new role on the popular baking show after it was announced she would be replacing comedian Matt Lucas. In December, the Little Britain star announced he was stepping down from his role on the show as he could no longer commit to the programme’s schedule alongside his other projects.
And after filming the series over the summer, Bake Off fans will finally get to see her in action when the 2023 run of the baking competition begins on Tuesday, September 26. Ahead of her on-screen debut in the famous tenet, Alison has been opening up about her new role.

In a print interview with Heat Magazine, Alison spoke on the rude awakening she experienced once the show had finished filming. "I’ve put on a stone this series," she confessed. "I couldn’t believe it. I’m literally going running first thing tomorrow," the 48-year-old then joked.
Co-presented Noel commented: "Yeah, Matt said he’d never do it again. I would never say I’d stop eating," to which former Big Brother star Alison replied: "I’m going to end up being in a wheelchair!"
It comes after Alison had been reported to have branded hosting the Great British Bake off as a 'holiday' and described it as being 'safe'. The mum-of-one has joined Noel Fielding
