Absolutely Fabulous star Jane Horrocks has shared details of a nasty fall from her bike and warned her fans about the dangers of black ice. Jane, 59, who is best known for playing Bubble in classic BBC sitcom Absolutely Fabulous, was rushed to hospital after hitting a slippery patch of road and falling off her bike. She has since revealed that she has a broken wrist and some bruised ribs.
The actress, who had been out riding in Brighton, had to be helped by people passing by and told how she had to have her arm put in plaster, thanking the hospital staff. Jane posted on X, formerly known as Twitter, to warn her followers to slow down in the slippery weather, writing: "Just fallen off my bike on black ice in Brighton. In A+E now.
It's crazy busy. I haven't experienced A+E for a very long time and it's an eye opener. "Be careful cyclists out there.
Maybe these accidents occur to say Slow Down. We do so little of that, that sometimes it takes something stronger to enforce rest. I'm grateful for the guidance.
"A lovely couple helped me when I fell.
They got me a cup of tea and brought me home.
Thank you to them and the lovely Scottish nurse who put my arm in plaster when all the other 'plasterers' had gone home." She later shared an update on her injuries, writing: "Thank you ALL for your well wishes. I have a broken wrist and bruised ribs, so not too bad in the grand scheme of things. So many people in A+E yesterday had fallen on black ice and there was quite a lot of anger towards @BrightonHoveCC for not gritting the roads." Jane is best known as Bubble, Jennifer Saunders' character Edina's quirky personal assistant in the comedy which was on air from 1992 to 1996.
